Crimes in Franklin: New novel takes on fentanyl in rural America

Pittsburgh Post Gazette

In 2021, one Pennsylvanian died of a drug overdose every two hours. But that number doesn’t tell the whole story. Drug addiction has had tragic impacts on our families and communities, often inflicting deep and permanent wounds. My latest novel, “Echoes of Malice,” was inspired by the death of a close friend who was murdered by his adult son, a once-promising young man who became an addict and lost control of his life. Despite that dark genesis, the novel is intended to entertain, with plenty of twists and turns and a shocking ending. But hopefully it will also spark thought and conversation on a serious subject.
