About

James Bushee began writing after retiring from a 40-year legal career culminating as a partner in a large, international law firm. Prior to entering the legal field, Jim also worked as a radio engineer and country & western disc jockey as well as serving as a Marine Corps officer.

His first novel, Ace of Diamonds (written under the pseudonym J. Michael Boucher), was inspired by his experiences watching the deep and profound impact of drug addiction on addicts, their families and the community. The sequel, Echoes of Malice, follows the characters as they face new challenges.

His latest work, A Time for Sacrifice: Emma’s War, was inspired by the discovery of his grandmother’s diary and the fact that nine of his uncles served in the Army and Navy during World War II. Emma’s War, a narrative nonfiction, follows the Bushee brothers in battles across the globe and explores Emma’s strength and resilience as she raised six young children at home, navigating an unfathomable array of rationing for food and goods, raising chickens and tending a Victory Garden to fill gaps in scarce resources, and volunteering for various war charities, all while worrying about her sons at war. It also chronicles the struggles faced by Emma and others on the home front as the war raged on. It is expected to be released in 2026.

Jim also holds several advanced wine certifications, including French Wine Scholar, Spanish Wine Scholar, Burgundy Master Level Certificate and Certified Wine Educator (CWE).

The author and his family split their time between Austin, Texas and Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Jim is available to speak with book clubs about his work both live and via Zoom. To schedule an event, contact us.
